Early Bird Running Tour

The Early Bird Running Tour combines the seaside, the Gothic Quarter and lots of historical places in one run. Enjoy Barcelona at sunrise!

From: 70.00

Tour Description

Let us use the first light of the sun for an Early Bird Running Tour in Barcelona. We will enjoy the empty streets of Barcelona in the early morning hours before the city awakes. Depending on our meeting point we will head directly through the old town along Las Ramblas to the marinas of Barcelona. With a little bit luck we will feel like at the Cote d'Azur and run along super yachts who dock here frequently. We will hear why the Olympic games changed the face of Barcelona in many ways and that this marina was once something totally different to that what we see today.

For Barcelona the sea was always vital and part of the history. We will hear stories about a famous explorer who reported to the Spanish King and Queen in Barcelona. About a long war in Europe that finally ended in Barcelona 1714 - but it was also the start of the oppression of Catalonia by Madrid.

On the 10K Early Bird Running Tour distance option we will run back through the old town, the trendy El Born neighbourhood and the Gothic quarter to our start point, passing famous middle age squares and churches - including our "Cathedral of the Sea" - the Santa Maria del Mar church.

When you go for the 15K Early Bird Running Tour distance option, to use the perfect morning conditions for a longer run, then we will take you on this tour along the Sagrada Familia church. For sure one of Gaudi his masterpieces and still yet not finished. On our way back to the city centre we will pass many Modernism buildings from Catalonia's great architects. Including Casa Milà and Casa Batllò.

But there is one more "thing" on this tour we will show you, something you will not expect when you come to Barcelona. A story about an inventor who lived in Barcelona who was far ahead of his time with his invention - but maybe he will never get the recognition for it like he should have deserved it.

Let's enjoy the old city at sunrise!

The Weather - Rain or Snow
Tours go ahead, rain or shine (or snow). However, in very severe weather (to be determined by your guide) you will be offered to return at a later time or to postpone for another day.

You should turn up at the meeting point as usual, where your guide will advise, if it is necessary to postpone the tour. Tours will usually go ahead, even if it is raining.

What should I bring to the Tour
What should you bring to the start line?

Beside of a big smile, you should be prepared for the weather conditions during the different seasons. So normally light running equipment is absolutely sufficient for the summer climate. Especially in late spring and summer we always recommend to use any kind sun protection.

An extra bottle of water during summer season is recommendable. We
will point out on water fountains with drinking water if available.

Should children join us on a tour, then it should be in summer time obligatory to use caps and sun protection (sun lotion SPF 50+).

And don't forget, we can have sometimes also some rain! So please be prepared yourself by checking the weather forecast and with a light rain jacket.
